What is an IP rating?

IP stands for “Ingress Protection” and it refers to the level of protection provided by a seal. It is most often used in relation to products designed to seal and enclose electrical components.

The IP rating is made of two numbers. The first number refers to the protection from dust. The second refers to the level of protection from moisture.
